With over 70 years of total combined experience in the geotechnical engineering field, Rockridge Geotechnical engineers are knowledgeable, professional, and experts in their field. 2016 marks the 10 year anniversary of this successful small business, with a growing team and growing client base we are excited for the next 10 years to come.

Craig S. Shields, P.E., G.E.,Principal Engineer and founder of Rockridge Geotechnical has over 34 years of geotechnical engineering experience in Northern California. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981 and a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982.

His experience includes directing explorations of soil, rock, and groundwater conditions, design and evaluation of foundation systems, static and dynamic slope stability analyses, evaluation of liquefaction potential and lateral spreading, ground improvement, forensic investigations, and construction monitoring.

 

 

lliangLinda H.J. Liang, P.E., G.E, Senior Engineer, has over 19 years of geotechnical engineering experience throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1997 and a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998.

Her experience includes performing geotechnical investigations for single-story buildings to high-rise structures with multi-level basements; institutional buildings, hospitals, and sports facilities; landfill closures and post-closure land use; preparing and reviewing EIRs; emergency response and repair of slope failures; and site development.

 

 

lmedeirosLogan D. Medeiros, P.E., G.E., Senior Project Engineer, has over 14 years of experience providing project management, engineering design, construction observation, and subsurface investigation services for numerous projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Science degree in GeoEngineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

He has evaluated sites with complex subsurface conditions, such as soft bay deposits, liquefiable soils, and unstable slopes. He has worked on projects for educational facilities, commercial developers, affordable and market-rate residential developers, public agencies, and litigation support. He has performed geologic hazard evaluations, site-specific ground motion studies, and site response analyses for liquefiable sites, as well as for public school projects successfully reviewed by the California Division of State Architect (DSA) and the California Geological Survey (CGS).

 

darcieDarcie Maffioli, P.E., Project Engineer, has over six years of geotechnical and earthquake engineering experience throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Her experience includes performing geotechnical investigations for multi-story buildings, parking garages, and sports facilities; static and pseudo-static slope stability and seepage analyses for dams, levees, and nuclear facilities; analyses for design of foundation systems and retaining walls; evaluation of liquefaction potential and lateral spreading; and construction observation.

 

twilliamsTessa Williams, P.E., Project Engineer, has over four years of geotechnical engineering experience in the San Francisco Bay Area and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2012. Tessa is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Her experience includes performing geotechnical investigations for residential and commercial development projects, public agencies, and affordable housing projects; providing recommendations for design of foundation systems and retaining walls; slope stability analyses; evaluation of seismic hazards including liquefaction potential and lateral spreading; and construction observation.

 

pwildvinePeter N. Wildvine, Geotechnical Construction Manager, has over 25 years of success overseeing geotechnical aspects of multimillion-dollar construction projects. He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University in 1987.

He has provided geotechnical management, observation, and testing services during construction. His project experience includes deep excavations in Bay Mud, landslide rock anchoring and stabilizations, pipelines up to 84-inch diameter, dynaflect pavement evaluation, dozens of types of shallow and deep foundation systems, shoring and underpinning systems, ground improvement systems, roadway subgrade preparation, and explorations for soil, rock, and groundwater conditions.

 

krystianKrystian Samlik, P.E., Senior Staff Engineer, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2012 and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Specialization in 2013, both from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He received his Professional Engineering designation in the fall of 2015. Krystian is also ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certified.

Before joining Rockridge Geotechnical, Krystian worked in the field with several geotechnical internships where he gained knowledge in geotechnical report writing, design recommendations, laboratory testing, exploratory drilling, and nuclear soil density gauge testing.

 

 

no photoQuintin Flores, EIT, Staff Engineer, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2015, and a Master of Science degree in Geoengineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He also has his Engineer in Training certificate.

Before joining Rockridge Geotechnical, Quintin gained experience from a two-year long internship in the San Luis Obispo area where he was involved with geotechnical engineering report writing, laboratory testing, and field exploration. He also became proficient with preparing figures for reports in AutoCAD and Corel Draw.

 

 

arikliAndrew J. Rikli, EIT, Senior Staff Engineer, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2009 and has an Engineer in Training certification. AJ is also ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certified.

Before joining Rockridge Geotechnical, AJ spent two years in the United States Peace Corps serving in Rwanda where he taught chemistry, raised donor funds, and remodeled schools. He has provided geotechnical construction observation and testing services, as well as performed subsurface investigations.

 

 

 

katieKatie Dickinson, Senior Staff Engineer, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2012.

Before joining Rockridge Geotechnical, Katie served with AmeriCorps with the Nevada Conservation Corps where she maintained and created recreation trails and facilitated animal and plant habitat restoration. She holds a Class A Chain Saw Certification with the US Forest Service and most recently worked at Northstar California Resort in Truckee. Katie is gaining geotechnical field experience and utilizing her degree by joining the Rockridge Geotechnical team.

 

 

no photoDevin Landkamer, EIT, Staff Engineer, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2015 and has an Engineer in Training certification.

Before joining Rockridge Geotechnical, Devin interned with Schnabel Foundation Company where she learned the design-build process for various shoring jobs and helped with bidding, design, and AutoCad drawings.

 

 

 

 

no photoJon Sarmiento, Field Technician, received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Animation and Visual Effects from E’xpression College for Digital Arts in 2012. JB is also ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certified.

Prior to joining the Rockridge Geotechnical team, Jon worked as an operations manager at JSA & Associates overseeing site specific testing of CPTs, managed regular maintenance of equipment, and worked with engineers and city/county inspectors. He has previously worked as a graphics designer and image editor.

 

 

 

kateKate Schenk, Office Manager, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies & Marketing from Indiana State University in 2004. She worked for over six years as a Marketing & Public Relations manager for an international trade association before moving to the Bay Area in 2011. Since moving to the Bay Area Kate has worked with several nonprofits and small businesses on a contract basis before joining the Rockridge Geotechnical team full-time. Kate has experience in office administration, marketing, finance, event planning, proof reading, and more.

 

 

 

jarkaJarka Stepanek, Accounting, has over 10 years of experience in organizational development, business support and management, computerized accounting system implementation, bookkeeping and property management. She received Certificate in Horticulture in 1988 from SSP, Prague, Czech Republic. She is certified bookkeeper, Intuit ProAdviser, and she is pursuing para-accounting professional license.

She has provided full range of services to companies in the fields of landscaping, hospitality, real estate rental, property management, and engineering geology. She is excited to be joining the Rockridge team on a permanent basis.
